Our Lady of Light Ministries was originally incorporated in 1993 as Our Lady of Light Foundation. As a non-profit (U.S. 501c3) corporation, its mission was and is to (1) support the publication of books and associated materials, and otherwise aid in spreading the word about alleged Marian apparitions to a local visionary, and (2) to support priests who champion Our Lady’s causes, both that of Our Lady of Light and others. The Foundation now acts as the fund raising and distribution arm of what has grown into Our Lady of Light Ministries. Below are listed the wide range of activities with which the Ministries are associated.
August 31 – September 1
Our Lady of Light first appeared in the greater Cincinnati area at midnight, August 31, 1992, so she would be here the first instant of September 1 on which the Father grants mercy to whoever asks with sincere contrition. Annually these two days are commemorated and celebrated as days of prayer and mercy by Our Lady of Light Ministries at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center.
These Days of Prayer and Mercy begin each day with 8:30 a.m. Mass, continuing with Eucharistic adoration, individual and group prayer and learning opportunities, and ending with Mass at 7:15 p.m. The public is cordially invited to attend any and all activities on these days. Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center, itself the former major seminary for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, offers a wealth of architectural and religious works of art to make any visit memorable.
For more information about past activities each year on August 31 and September 1, the days of Prayer and Mercy, please see the videos below, produced in the years 1997 and 1998 respectively. In each video, Father Leroy Smith welcomes the prospective visitor and explains a few of the features at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center that one might expect to see while there. Both videos highlight the spiritual events of those anniversary days, especially the masses for the attending faithful, and the afternoon and evening rosaries.

Our Lady of Light Publications has been publishing books, brochures, and pamphlets since 1993. Much of that publishing has centered on the local Greater Cincinnati phenomena that began in the early 1990s with the appearance of Mary, the Mother of God, under the title of Our Lady of Light. The total number of books approaches 70,000 and the total amount of other materials is hard to estimate. The overall impact of these materials cannot be measured in statistical form, but the presence of these materials provided a beacon of appreciation for the awe and respect for Our Lord and His Mother that had been seriously waning toward the latter part of the twentieth century. In the end, as a famous man once said, “it was good that we were here.”
A number of OLL publications have been written by authors concerned with aspects of contemplation and meditation. Snippets of wisdom contained in these books allow readers to reflect on a single thought to carry through a busy day. These books are presented by OLL to allow individuals to keep hold on their communications link to heaven. Books are available from the Bookstore page.
As with any good news, there is great joy in the sharing. Our Lady of Light Ministries proudly presents the contents of this website in the hope that visitors who pass through will have gained an uplifting of the spirit with the experience. After all, there is always elation when one realizes that the God who created us loves us and is our greatest rooter, that those near his side, especially those who share our humanity, will do all in their power to help us “home,” if only we will reach out.
So tune in. Browse heartily. Let us know how we can improve our presentation. After all, since loving Our Lord and Our Lady is a duty for us all, we believers all are responsible for helping one another along the way. And what better way to do that than bringing information to you, the visitor?
For further spiritual inspiration, we recommend that you visit the sites shown on our Links page.
Our Lady of Light Ministries strongly supports personal, private prayer, as well as organized prayer in groups. To that end, OLLM has devised a suggested prayer format for group participation. The prayer format can be accessed simply by clicking here (printed brochures will be available in the near future). Should you form an Our Lady of Light prayer group, with your permission we would like to list it on our website. Your commitment to prayer is what Our Lady requests. Should you wish, give us your email address (by way of the Contact Us page) and we will keep you apprised of future activities.
Since early 1993, when a former Cincinnati archdiocesan seminary was purchased and renovations began to restore the grand old facility to its former grandeur, volunteers inspired by Our Lady of Light have poured hours, days, months, and years of physical labor, spiritual energy , and personal finances into what is now known as Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center. Several ministries, notably including Apostles of the Holy Spirit, Men of the Sacred Heart, and Sacred Heart Radio, continue to work to make sure that this spiritual Center has priestly guidance and fulfills its mission as a Marian spiritual center in consonance with the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church. The Sacraments of Penance and Holy Eucharist are offered, as well as 24/7 Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. The Center library, with books, audio/visual materials, and computer access, welcomes the public six days a week.
Our Lady of Light Foundation in the early 1990s saw the need to raise money for a farm near Falmouth, Kentucky where apparitions of Our Lady were alleged to have occurred. The Foundation secured the needed funds, purchased the farm, and participated in the renovation of the grounds and the erection of a chapel. In 1995, the Foundation donated the property, now known as Our Lady’s Farm, to Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center. Still active in scheduled activities at the Farm, Our Lady of Light Ministries is cultivating a vegetable garden there and continues to support the Farm in every way possible.
Near Our Lady’s Farm lies a parcel of more than 5 acres of land which has recently been donated to OLLM. Plans are under way to develop the property, perhaps into a retreat center. More volunteer support is welcome for development there.
It is hard to categorize the activities of Our Lady of Light, as we acknowledge the efforts of all who promote morally sound spiritual growth. For example, the Child Jesus of Good Health Devotion, home based in Morelia, Mexico, has one of its centers of promotion at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center in Norwood (Cincinnati), Ohio. It is promoted by some of Our Lady of Light’s special apostles. To learn more about or become a part of Our Lady of Light Ministries, email us at OLL@fuse.net or call us at 513-531-MARY.
OLL apostles might coordinate such events as retreats and days of recollection, depending on available manpower and logistical support. These events are often held at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center, where Our Lady of Light Ministries is headquartered, but might also be held in people’s homes and churches.
Apostles of Our Lady of Light also spread their commitments to the spiritual enrichment of the laity into their own home parishes, coordinating everything from ministry scheduling to prayer group involvement to First Friday Adoration participation and coordination.
